A story in the making of a young student of our Nirmaan Career Saathi Program.

A story in the making of a young student of our Nirmaan Career Saathi Program. (Not mentioning the name) He hails from a small village, with about 1.5 Acres of land. From extremely humble background, with parents doing a bit of farming and a bit of labour. Studied in a government school and Scored over 82% in 10th, 95% in inter, got a seat in a top 20 engineering colleges across Hyd, where lot of placements are also available. He got a free accommodation from a trust. He has been sailing through a promising career path somehow in spite of severe adversities.

Felt, everything is going very well and his entire family might come out of severe challenges in a few years from now. His SEM 1 results in Engineering college have been announced and he failed in 4 subjects His trust have cancelled his free accommodation and he had no option to stay. He was afraid to tell us thinking what we might think of him inspite of providing so much support from Nirmaan. (Financial, mentoring, exam preparation, visits and many more).

Finally, he broke down one day and started opening. Initially he went to college, he felt so inferior compared to his peers because of his outlook. He has a problem with English and his teacher used to ask him only to speak in English. He went to Engineering lab without apron and shoes and he has been sent away. All these made him feel even more inferior and stopped going to the college. He used to go out in the morning and come back in the evening just roaming around streets. He got carried away with friends watching various movies (in friends laptop) and whiling away more time not knowing how to overcome this situation. He knows he is doing a mistake but doesn't know what to do. He even managed to get proxy attendance somehow.

When he opened up finally, I was so moved to understand his situation and our team just started our counselling. Assured him with accommodation support for a few months and then a few regular counsellings, Today morning he whatsapped me his progress card of his 2nd Sem marks and guess what he secured 7.2 CGPA with 3 A's 2 B+, 6 B's and 1 C grade.

He has moved from that stage of feeling inferior and lost in the world to a lot more confident and promising student. more importantly now having an experience of seeing a very low point in life and coming back strongly. For me, I feel Life becomes more meaningful when you are able to contribute some part in such journey's. Feels so nice when a Diminishing Dream is glowing back.

It made my day!!! If you are interested to contribute (money, in kind, mentoring) to such people and have commitment for a few years let me know.
